St. Vincent’s Todos Nacen Gritando is an equal parts labor of love and tribute to the fans who inspired its creation. The three-time GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist reflects on her most memorable live experiences, from electrifying shows in Mexico and South America to a standout 2023 performance at Primavera Barcelona.
These diverse crowds were united by their passion, singing every word to every song in perfect English. Inspired by their collective effort and intensity, St. Vincent pondered, "If they can sing along in a second or third language, why can’t I meet them halfway?”
Enlisting her best friend and occasional collaborator, Alan Del Rio Ortiz, she worked on translating All Born Screaming’s lyrics, making melodic adjustments and ultimately recording new Spanish vocals for each of the album's 10 tracks. The result is Todos Nacen Gritando, a heartfelt reinterpretation that stays true to the original while ensuring accuracy and emotional resonance.
