Description

Bassist and composer Seth Ford-Young leads Phi-Psonics into a meditative and transcendent soundscape, exploring the themes of community, connection, and inner peace.

Recorded across six live sessions in early 2024, Expanding To One features a rotating cast of musicians, including members of Giant Sand, Jeff Parker ETA IVtet, and more, blending spiritual jazz, ambient textures, and intricate improvisation.

The album unfolds as a seamless, free-flowing journey, balancing contemplative atmospheres with deep, resonant grooves. From the uplifting optimism of “There's Still Hope” to the cosmic exploration of “Sounds of the Universe”, this record invites listeners into a moment of sonic stillness and reflection.

For fans of: Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Portico Quartet, Matthew Halsall
