Written during a solitary artist residency on a 20,000-acre Wyoming ranch and recorded in Ojai with Scott Hirsch, I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away is Hayden Pedigo at his most expansive and unfiltered. It’s a warped, shimmering blend of fingerstyle Americana, experimental folk, and ambient textures – what Pedigo calls a “micro-dose psychedelic album… as if somebody had cut up a tab of LSD and put on a Fahey record.” With a title borrowed from a gut-punching 1978 Little House on the Prairie episode, this record wraps a deep sense of longing and exploration in beautifully unpredictable soundscapes.
