After leaving Brooklyn for the relatively rural setting of New York's Hudson Valley, Holtkamp found himself immersed in nature and embracing a slower way of life. Over time, a new instrument emerged from his modular system, built around physical modeling techniques that emulate plucked string sounds. The album features extensive contributions from drummer Greg Fox and saxophonist and flutist Matt Bauder. Acoustic and electronic sources coexist to create a hyper-dimensional sense of space, with each element deliberately placed in its own distinct environment. Much of the album was created during late-night sessions, which became a kind of personal ritual and ultimately inspired its title.
