Four decades after it first shook up college radio and introduced the world to R.E.M., Radio Free Europe is reborn for a new generation. This special 2025 EP celebrates the iconic single’s legacy with a newly remixed version by GRAMMY®-winner Jacknife Lee – who worked on R.E.M.’s final two studio albums – giving the track a fresh yet respectful new sound.

The release also features rare material from 1981, including the Original Hib-Tone single mix of "Radio Free Europe," the B-side "Sitting Still," and two demos – "Wh. Tornado" and the newly available "Radio Free Dub". Overseen by original producer Mitch Easter, this is more than just a reissue – it’s a true celebration of a milestone moment in indie and alternative rock history.

Inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry in 2009, "Radio Free Europe" remains a touchstone for the genre and a beacon for generations of musicians and fans.
