A vital document of Mogadishu’s extraordinary 1980s music scene, where Somali melodies collided with funk, disco, reggae, soul and jazz.
Dur Dur Band were at the centre of that scene. Founded by drummer Adan Handal and his childhood friend Isse Dahir Qassim, the group had become the house band at Mogadishu’s legendary Jubba Hotel by 1984, developing an explosive live sound that felt both deeply rooted in Somali music and strikingly modern.
Volume 3 (1988) & Volume 4 (1989) captures what would become a creative high point for the band. Recorded amid personal tragedy and growing national crisis, these sessions found Dur Dur pushing further into electronic percussion, unusual drum textures and reggae-inspired grooves without losing the unmistakable character of their Somali foundations. Volume 4 in particular stands among their most adventurous recordings.
Reissued by Analog Africa as a 140g virgin-vinyl double LP, housed in a gatefold sleeve with photographs and liner notes.

How long will my order take?
Many of the records we sell are sourced to order from our trusted network of UK distributors, allowing us to offer thousands more titles than we could ever stock in-store. Please allow up to 7 working days for dispatch.
If you've pre-ordered a record, we'll always aim to dispatch it in time for release day so it arrives on, or as close to, the official release date as possible.
