A deeply immersive environmental suite where acoustic percussion, ancient wind instruments and the living sounds of the forest move as one.
Forest of Tranquility began as Masayoshi Fujita’s commissioned soundtrack for the living nature installation at Expo 2025 in Osaka, a vast woodland of 1,500 repurposed trees arranged around a central pond. Following 2024’s Migratory, Fujita extends the lineage of Japanese environmental music associated with Hiroshi Yoshimura, Midori Takada and Haruomi Hosono, while retaining a distinctly tactile voice of his own.
Across seven long-form pieces, acoustic marimba, vibraphone and percussion meet Armenian duduk from Hayk Karoyi, Japanese shō from Mattias Hållsten, field recordings of birds and frogs, drones and white noise. The music was designed to shift with the time of day and respond to weather conditions through sensors, creating alternate sunny, cloudy and rainy states inside the installation.
Now based in a converted former kindergarten in the mountain village of Kami-cho, Hyōgo, Fujita brings that close relationship with landscape into an album full of subtle movement and natural detail. Even the title “Komorebi Dance” points to the play of sunlight through leaves: an apt image for music that feels calm, alive and continually changing.

How long will my order take?
Many of the records we sell are sourced to order from our trusted network of UK distributors, allowing us to offer thousands more titles than we could ever stock in-store. Please allow up to 7 working days for dispatch.
If you've pre-ordered a record, we'll always aim to dispatch it in time for release day so it arrives on, or as close to, the official release date as possible.
Why does dispatch take a little longer?
We're an independent record shop, not a warehouse. Rather than filling shelves with thousands of records that may never sell, we carefully source many titles once you place your order.
It means a wider catalogue, less waste and more opportunities to discover great music.
How are records packaged?
Every record is packed using purpose-made vinyl mailers with protective packaging to help ensure it arrives safely.
Whenever we can, we'll also include a few 12 Bar stickers, our latest zine and other little extras to make opening your order feel just as special as playing the record.
Can I return my order?
If your order arrives damaged or isn't quite right, please get in touch and we'll make it right.
